Description
Oral history with Kate Brown, a member of the League of Women Voters. Conducted on June 24, 2002. In this interview, Brown talks about how she came to the U.S. in 1946 from her native Estonia, what sparked her interest in politics, how she became involved with the League of Women Voters, and shares her thoughts on various Louisiana political figure. She also shares some stories from growing up in Estonia including how she lived through several occupations under the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. Brown also talks about the day her parents were sent to the gulags of Siberia. Part 1 of 2.
