This segment from the May 24, 2013, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on Texas Brine’s decision to not offer buyouts to the 350 residents impacted by the Bayou Corne sinkhole in Assumption Parish. Sanford reports that Governor Bobby Jindal has ordered a review of all of Texas Brine’s permits to determine if the company can continue operating in Louisiana. This report includes highlights of a press conference given by Governor Jindal, Assumption Parish President Martin Triche, State Representative Karen St. Germain, and Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack.
