This segment from the January 22, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a report by Robert Burns of KLFY-TV in Lafayette about the need for Creole translators in Haiti following the devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. Burns interviews Stephen Ortego, who discusses his role in helping non-profit organizations find translators to travel to Haiti and the similarities between Louisiana Creole and French and Haitian Creole.
