Andre Moreau hosts live coverage of Governor John Bel Edwards’ opening address to the 2022 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature on March 14, 2022. Prior to the speech, Moreau and Barry Erwin of the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL) preview the major issues of the session. In the House chamber, Bishop Michael Duca of the Diocese of Baton Rouge leads a prayer. During his speech, Governor Edwards discusses: the COVID-19 pandemic; the state budget surplus; his budget proposal, including infrastructure investments; redistricting; hurricane recovery; the work of the Climate Initiatives Task Force; and his support for increasing the minimum wage and equal pay for equal work. Following the speech, Moreau and Erwin analyze the Governor’s remarks.
