Description
Angela Hill interviews a panel involved with the work of CASA, or "Court Appointed Special Advocates," a volunteer organization advocating for the rights of abused and neglected children. The panel consists of CASA Director Geri Flaum, juvenile court judge Salvadore Mule', and CASA volunteer Angela Shiloh-Cryer. Geri explains what the organization does and its process. Judge Mule' describes how the organization was founded in New Orleans and what the juvenile court system was like before it existed. Volunteer Angela shares her experience advocating for children and why she chose to get involved. The panel answers additional questions from Angela and the audience, including how often children are returned home, if more volunteers are needed, and what volunteer training is like.
