Description
Oral history with District 25 Representative and Speaker of the House Charles Dewitt. Conducted on August 24, 2007. In this interview, Dewitt discusses his family and the impact his father had on his voting habits, the issue of gambling in Louisiana, and his time serving under Governor David Treen, Edwin Edwards, and Mike Foster. He also discusses the first few years of Governor Kathleen Blanco's term and the issues with lobbyists in Louisiana. Dewitt served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for twenty-eight years. This interview is part of a series of interviews conducted with numerous Louisiana legislators being term limited following the 2007 legislative session. Part 2 of 3.
