Oral history with State Representative Donald Ray Kennard. Conducted on September 11, 2007. In this interview, Kennard discusses his early life and family history, his education and time playing basketball at Southeastern Louisiana University, and what peaked his interest in serving in a public office. He also talks about working for the LSU athletic department and working alongside Louisiana legend "Pistol" Pete Maravich. Kennard served in as a Louisiana state representative for thirty-two years with a total of nine terms. This interview is part of a series of interviews conducted with numerous Louisiana legislators being term limited following the 2007 legislative session. Part 1 of 2.
