Description
Oral history with aviator and meteorologist Nash Roberts (April 13, 1918-December 18, 2010). Conducted on October 30, 2007. In this interview, Roberts discusses his early life growing up in New Orleans, his education, his time as a pilot for the Navy during the Second World War, and his career as a meteorologist for WDSU Channel 6, WVUE-TV, and WWL-TV. While serving in the Navy, Roberts studied cyclones in the Pacific by flying into the eye of the storm. He was the first pilot to ever use this technique to plot out the track of a major storm. While on TV, Roberts established himself as one of the most beloved and trusted weathermen in Louisiana thanks in part to his accurate hurricane forecasting.
