Oral history with District 204 State Representative and Speaker of the House Joe Salter. Conducted on July 24, 2007. In this interview, Salter discusses his early life and education, his career as a high school administrator, his service in the Louisiana National Guard, and how he began his career in Louisiana politics. He also talks about his family, his activities in his church, and some positions he held before becoming a representative. This interview is part of a series of interviews conducted with numerous Louisiana legislators being term limited following the 2007 legislative session. Part 1 of 2.
