Description
Oral history with former Lieutenant Governor James E. "Jimmie" Fitzmorris. Conducted on December 21, 1993. In this interview, Fitzmorris discusses his career in Louisiana politics, campaigning for mayor of New Orleans and governor, the effects media and Hurricane Betsy played on his campaigning, and serving under Governor Edwin Edwards and Mayor of New Orleans DeLesseps "Chep" Morrison. He also provides his thoughts on the ever changing nature of politics, integration in New Orleans during the Civil Rights Movement, and important figures in Louisiana political history like Earl Long, Jimmie Davis, Moon Landrieu, David Treen, and John McKeithen.
