Description
Oral history with CEO of Bollinger Shipyards and former State Chairman of the Louisiana Republican Party Donald Bollinger (April 1915-May 2000). Conducted on May 6, 1993. In this interview, Bollinger discusses his family history, life during the depression, working in shipyards during the Second World War, and starting his own shipyard business in 1946. He also shares stories and thoughts on Nicholls State University and his time in the Louisiana Republican Party. Through his leadership, Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport became one of the most profitable and well-known shipyard businesses in the South. The business has shipyards and drydocks all across the Louisiana and Texas gulf coast. Bollinger Shipyard produces various ships including cutters, icebreakers, and patrol vessels for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. Part 1 of 2.
