This segment from the 2010 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Ryan Harter, a senior at Loyola College Prep in Shreveport. As a child, Harter overcame a stuttering problem and a bout with cancer at age eight. In 2008, he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He opted for limb salvage surgery so that he could keep his leg. Throughout his treatment, Harter continued to take Advanced Placement classes. He is also a volunteer for several causes, including Volunteers of America, Providence House, and Habitat for Humanity.
