Description
This segment from the 2009 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Helen Meridy, a senior at Warren Easton Charter High School in New Orleans. Meridy was forced to relocate to Houston following Hurricane Katrina. When she returned home, she was determined to give back to the community. She participates in her school service club, where she plays games with adults with disabilities. She has also collected donations for the Food Bank, thrown birthday parties for disabled children, and cooked for families at the Ronald McDonald House.
