This segment from the 2008 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Mary-Brent Brown, a seventh grade student at Kehoe-France Northshore in Covington. Brown formed a non-profit organization with her sister called Kids Wanna Help to give children an opportunity to raise money for charities helping sick children while also building the self-esteem of the participants. A Kids Wanna Help fundraiser for pediatric leukemia raised $11,000. Brown is also president of the student council, captain of the cheerleaders, and a participant in gymnastics and volleyball.
