This segment from the 2006 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Michele Hullum, a junior at Dutchtown High School in Geismar. Despite suffering from cystic fibrosis, Hullum plays drums in the school band, participates in 4-H, and helped the gymnastics team win two state championships. In addition to her volunteer activities at school, she also helps take care of her older sister with Down’s syndrome, teaches gymnastics to children, and tutors students in French.
