This segment from the 1999 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Lauren Johnson, a senior at Natchitoches Central High School. Johnson was in a traffic accident that confined her to a wheelchair. Through daily physical therapy, she is slowly regaining the use of her legs. Despite this challenge, Johnson is an honor roll student, a member of the Homecoming Court, and a volunteer peer counselor helping other young trauma victims in North Louisiana and Texas.
