Description
An oral history interview conducted on September 6, 2007, with Reverend Clarence B. Wiley, an electrician in the United States Navy stationed on the USS LSM-34 during World War II. He discusses: his deployment to the Pacific; his ship’s role in transporting troops and equipment for 17 major invasions in the Philippines; the day (December 5, 1944) that his ship was attacked by multiple kamikaze planes; the wound he sustained during the attack; transporting liberated American prisoners of war from Bataan; his long journey home; visiting a restored LSM boat during a reunion; and his life after the war.
