Description
An oral history interview conducted on September 13, 2007, with Vernon Broussard, Sr., a medical officer for Patton’s Army during World War II. He discusses: his training and voyage to England; the 11 months he spent stationed at a general hospital in Yorkshire, England; his assignment at the 115th General Hospital for the Army of Occupation in Germany; visiting a concentration camp in Germany; retrieving a nun behind the Russian lines in Czechoslovakia at the request of Pope Pius XII; and his impressions of General George S. Patton. He also recounts the story of Father Verbis LaFleur of Opelousas, who died saving men on a sunken destroyer.
