Description
An oral history interview conducted on October 16, 2007, with Roscoe A. Bolton, a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Navy during World War II. He discusses: volunteering for the Navy following the attack on Pearl Harbor; his assignment at the Commander and Shore Patrol unit headquartered in New Orleans; German submarines sinking ships off the coast of the United States; meeting Andrew Higgins; his deployment to the Philippines, Saipan and Marcus Island; learning of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima; and his journey home from the war on a troop train.
