An oral history interview conducted on July 26, 2017, with Skip Weber of Metairie, Louisiana. Weber served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his ROTC training at LSU; his training, including Jungle School in Panama; his experiences as a tank platoon leader stationed near Nui Ba Den, or the Black Virgin Mountain; his platoon’s role in searching for plastic mines; his worst memory of the war; the horror of war; the problems with racism and drugs in the Army; the lack of support from people at home; the changing attitudes toward veterans; filming his experiences during his tour in Vietnam; watching the fall of Saigon on television at home; and his four Bronze Stars.
