Description
An oral history interview from July 12, 2017, with David Beningo of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Beningo served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: being drafted in the fall of 1969; basic training and artillery school; being sent to the wrong unit for a week in South Vietnam; his role as a supply clerk for nine months with the 2nd Battalion, 20th Artillery, known as Blue Max, in Phuoc Vinh; his transfer to Bearcat Base as an ammunition handler reloading Cobra Gunships; being injured in September 1971 while training his replacement; and his return home and rehabilitation at the Valley Forge General Hospital in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
