Description

This episode of the series “La Veillee” from November 3, 2022, features Drake LeBlanc and Caitlin Orgeron of Tele-Louisiane reporting on the effects that the closure of an elementary school can have on a small community. They interview Barbara “T-Bob” Latiolais and Maria “Sis” Theriot, residents of Catahoula, and Abraham Parfait of the United Houma Nation, who discuss their efforts to reopen Catahoula Elementary School and Grand Caillou Elementary School, respectively. In the studio, LeBlanc interviews Christine Verdin, the new principal of Pointe aux Chenes Elementary School, who discusses the importance of opening a French immersion school in her community.
