This segment from the March 6, 2020, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Natasha Williams’ report on the growing concerns about COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus. She interviews Dr. Catherine O’Neal, an infectious disease specialist at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, who discusses: personal hygiene tips for preventing the spread of respiratory viruses; concerns about the community spread of COVID-19 in the United States; and the available testing for the virus. Williams also interviews residents about their concerns about COVID-19, including Cheryl Laperouse, Mark Lucas, and Cheryl Spiers. Andre Moreau and Williams then present highlights of Governor John Bel Edwards discussing the state’s response to COVID-19 at the Baton Rouge Press Club, including the formation of a coronavirus task force. Lastly, Moreau and Williams present highlights of Dr. Susan Bankston, a pediatrician at the Baton Rouge Clinic, speaking to the Baton Rouge Rotary Club about the latest facts on COVID-19.
