This segment from the February 15, 2019, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Natasha Williams’ visit to a concert at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium celebrating the Grammy nomination for Best Historical Album for “At the Louisiana Hayride Tonight.” The Louisiana Hayride was a popular country music radio show on KWKH in Shreveport from 1948-1960 that helped to launch the careers of several musicians, including Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Williams interviews: Joan Lurie, Shreveport resident and Elvis fan; Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker; Governor John Bel Edwards; Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins; Maggie Warwick, Louisiana Hayride owner; Jerry K. Green, singer at the Louisiana Hayride; and Kade Rogers, aspiring singer. This segment also includes highlights from Governor Edwards’ performance of “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”
