Description

This segment from the June 8, 2018, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau’s interview with Dr. Linda Hooper-Bui, an LSU entomologist, on her research into the Roseau cane die off at the mouth of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish. She discusses: her belief that Roseau cane scale, the invasive bug attacking the plant, is a symptom of a stressed plant; her belief that the Roseau cane is drowning due to high Mississippi River delta water levels and sending off distress signals that are attracting the invasive bugs; and possible solutions.
