Description
This segment from the August 28, 2015, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Tika Laudun’s interview with Nurse Gail Gibson in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Nurse Gibson worked at the University Medical Center in downtown New Orleans during the storm. She shares her memories of caring for pregnant mothers and newborn babies in a hospital with no electricity, their rooftop pleas for help, and assisting in the evacuation of patients when help finally arrived.
