This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from June 13, 2014, features Charlie Whinham leading a panel discussion with six state legislators from south Louisiana on the conclusion of the 2014 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. The panelists are: State Representative Vincent Pierre (D); State Representative Karen St. Germain (D); State Senator Conrad Appel (R); State Representative Jerome “Dee” Richard (I); State Representative Pat Smith (D); and State Representative Terry Landry (D). They discuss: their accomplishments and disappointments from the session; the status of Common Core and the PARCC assessments; the failure of Medicaid expansion; and the passage of a bill stopping the lawsuit by the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East against 97 oil and gas companies for environmental damages to the wetlands.
