This segment from the June 14, 2013, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s report on the opening of the U.S. Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. Whinham tours the new facility, which includes six World War II aircraft, a Sherman tank, and the stories of 436 World War II National Medal of Honor recipients. He also interviews Dr. Nick Mueller, the museum president and CEO, and Keith Huxen, the head historian, about the museum’s expansion. Lastly, Whinham visits with Captain John Rogers, a 95-year-old World War II veteran and museum volunteer, who discusses his experiences on a Sherman tank during the war.
