This segment from the February 8, 2013, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Sue Lincoln’s report on two new statistical analyses that challenge the Louisiana Department of Education’s 2012 school performance scores. Lincoln interviews Dr. Mercedes Schneider and Herb Bassett, two public school teachers and the authors of the two reports. They discuss the changes in the formula used for the school performance scores and how those changes impacted the scores as compared to previous years. This report also includes highlights of State Superintendent of Education John White presenting the scores to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as his response to these two reports.
