This segment from the June 24, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Allegra Nevils Yancey’s visit to the Lincoln Parish Museum and Historical Society in Ruston. She interviews: Margaret Anne Emory, the museum director, about the museum’s murals and their exhibit on the gowns of the Dixie Gem Peach Queens from the Peach Festival; Dr. Linda Sivils of the Louisiana Tech School of Human Ecology on the changing fashions represented by the gowns and the upcoming Peach Festival; and Dorothea Etta Hoogland on her reign as the 1952 Dixie Gem Peach Queen.
