Description

This segment from the December 10, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s interview with attorney Keith Jones, the father of Gordon Jones, one of the eleven workers killed in the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, about the status of his fight to amend the 1920 Death on the High Seas Act to include damages for care, comfort, and companionship. Jones discusses the Senate’s lack of urgency in changing the bill now that the oil well is capped, the changes made to the bill to accommodate special interest groups, the current bill only covering families affected by the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the effect of the November elections on the bill, and his determination to continue the fight in the next Congress.
