Description

This segment from the December 3, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Bill Rodman’s report on oyster testing following the BP Oil Spill. Rodman interviews: Dr. Jimmy Guidry of the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) on the results of the extensive oyster testing taking place; Garry Lopinto of DHH on his role in performing sensory tests on the oysters; John Reuther of Eurofins Laboratory in Metairie on the chemical testing process; and Buddy Daisy of Buddy’s Seafood in Houma on his business being down 50% because of the negative public perception of the safety of oysters. Rodman also touches on oystermen’s concerns that the opening of fresh water areas during the oil spill killed large numbers of oyster beds. Hosts: Charlie Whinham and Shauna Sanford
