This segment from the November 12, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a report by Jeff Weeks of WSRE-TV on the first meeting of the newly formed Gulf Coast Ecosystem and Restoration Task Force in Pensacola, Florida. Weeks talks to John Hickinson, the Executive Director, on the main goals of the task force, including streamlining recovery efforts from the BP Oil Spill and addressing long-term ecological and environmental issues related to the Gulf Coast. He also interviews Garret Graves of the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and Administrator Lisa Jackson of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) about the importance of state and federal agencies working together to address these issues.
