This segment from the June 11, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Donna LaFleur’s profile of Louisa Hodges, a science teacher at the Bethany Christian School in Baker and one of the ten national winners of the PBS Innovative Teacher Challenge. LaFleur interviews Nancy Thompson, an educational technology specialist at LPB, who discusses the educational resources available to teachers through LPB, Hodges’ use of technology in the classroom, and the PBS Innovative Teacher Award. LaFleur also interviews Louisa Hodges, who discusses the PBS resources that her students used in putting together their award-winning recycling project. Lastly, LaFleur meets with Carolyn De Salvo, the principal at Bethany Christian School, who talks about Hodges inspiring other teachers at her school to utilize technology in the classroom.
