These stories include: Speaker of the House Jim Tucker testifying on his proposed constitutional amendment to grant the Board of Regents authority over the state’s other higher education governing boards, the Louisiana State University System, the Southern University System, and the University of Louisiana System; State Representative John Bel Edwards questioning Speaker Tucker on why he didn’t receive a copy of the constitutional amendment until a few minutes before the committee hearing; State Senator Rob Marionneaux testifying on his bill extending the smoking ban to bars and casinos; State Representative Jim Fannin criticizing Commissioner of Higher Education Sally Clausen for not providing the House Appropriations Committee with requested budget documents in a complete and timely manner; and Commissioner Clausen’s response to Representative Fannin’s comments.
