Description
This segment from the May 21, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham reporting on the effect of the BP Oil Spill on Vietnamese fishermen in Louisiana. He talks to Tuan Nguyen, the Deputy Director of the Mary Queen of Vietnam Community Development Corporation in New Orleans East about his community center’s work in helping Vietnamese fishermen through the BP claims process. Whinham also interviews Jennifer Lihn Vu, a member of Congressman Joseph Cao’s staff, about her work with a Rapid Response team traveling to Vietnamese fishing communities throughout south Louisiana to assist fishermen as they decide how to move forward.
