In this web extra from the December 18, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In,” Charlie Whinham presents an extended look at the history of Louisiana’s Golden Age of Aviation at the Louisiana State Museum in Patterson. Whinham interviews Cliff Deal and Nicholas Neylon of the Louisiana State Museum and Patterson residents Hugh Brown, Lloyd Rogers, and B.L. Como, who discuss the history and legacy of the Wedell-Williams Aviation Corporation and its two partners, barnstorming pilot and airplane designer Jimmy Wedell and Patterson Mayor Harry Williams. Original airplanes and airplane replicas built by the Wedell-Williams Aviation Corporation are on display at the Louisiana State Museum in Patterson, which is known as the Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Museum.
