This segment from the May 22, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features an on-set interview with Barry Erwin, the president of the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL). Charlie Whinham and Shauna Sanford talk to Erwin about the latest events at the 2009 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Erwin discusses the passage of a bill out of committee that changes the Stelly Tax plan by allowing for itemized deductions on state income tax forms. He also talks about the passage of a bill in the House of Representatives with an amendment by State Representative Avon Honey that allows Louisiana to accept the $100 million from the federal economic stimulus package to increase unemployment compensation benefits, money previously rejected by Governor Bobby Jindal.
