Description
This segment from the February 20, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s tribute to Ralph Sims, a former radio broadcaster at WJBO in Baton Rouge, public relations executive, and contributor to Louisiana Public Broadcasting, who died at age 92. In clips from previous interviews, Sims describes how he started in radio and his experience in World War II as a tail gunner for the 8th Air Force in Europe. Friends and colleagues of Sims, including Smiley Anders of the Baton Rouge Advocate, LPB President Beth Courtney, actress Pat Snow, and WRKF radio host Jim Engster, share their memories of Sims and reflect on his impact on Louisiana.
