This segment from the October 24, 1997, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Jeff Duhe’s profile of the Sisters or Our Lady of Sorrows in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of their arrival in Louisiana from Italy. Duhe reports that the Sisters operate a school in Moreauville, a center for children with mental disabilities in Alexandria, and a school, center for adults with mental disabilities, a child development center, and a retirement home for nuns in Shreveport. He interviews: Sister Anthony Castellani, principal of the Sacred Heart School in Moreauville; Sister Martina Bernabe, teacher; Sister Mary Bertelli, teacher; Sister Helen Marcantannini, teacher; Sister Katherine Palazzi; Sister Seraphine Ricci, administrator of the center in Alexandria; Bishop of Alexandria Sam Jacobs; Father August Thompson; Gerald LaCour; Juliet Kaufman; Chris Machado, former student; and Mary Halsey, former student.
