This segment from the September 12, 1997, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Arcie Chapa’s report on the impact of a new tariff on imported crawfish on Louisiana’s crawfish industry. Chapa reports that the International Trade Commission has recommended that the temporary tariff on Chinese crawfish and other imported crawfish should be made permanent. She interviews: Roy Johnson, international marketing director for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry; Harold Benoit, a crawfish farmer and chairman of the Crawfish Promotion and Research Board; and Robert Walker, director of sales and marketing for the Louisiana Seafood Exchange.
