This segment from the October 6, 1989, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Karen Nachman’s report on the hopes for the economic recovery in central Louisiana, including Natchitoches and Alexandria, following the completion of Interstate 49. Nachman reports that officials hope that the passage of the constitutional amendment creating a highway and transportation trust fund on the October 7th ballot will fund more highway expansion projects in the region.
