Description
This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from July 14, 1989, features Charles Zewe and Karen Nachman reporting on the conclusion of the Second 1989 Special Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Nachman first reports on what legislators accomplished during the back-to-back regular and special sessions. She interviews: State Senator Armand Brinkhaus; State Representative Raymond Jetson; State Senator Cleo Fields; State Representative Allen Bradley; State Representative Raymond Laborde; State Senator Mike Foster; and State Senator Don Kelly. Zewe then conducts an in-studio interview with two journalists, John Maginnis of Gris Gris Magazine, and Bob Courtney of WBRZ-TV. They discuss: their views of the two legislative sessions; Governor Buddy Roemer’s political standing; the state budget battle; and the constitutional amendments on the October 7th ballot.
