This segment from the March 31, 1989, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Ken Lormand’s report on the state of the tourism industry in Louisiana and the plans for Open House 1990. He interviews Lieutenant Governor Paul Hardy and Kathy Ashworth of Sides and Associates. Roger Sockman then profiles the local tourism efforts in St. Francisville in West Feliciana Parish. He interviews: Charlie Soderquist of Des Moines, Iowa; Ann Boyd of Oakland, California; Ann Temple, the chair of the West Feliciana Tourist Bureau; Sherry Feuerhelm of Des Moines; Mary Shaw of Oakland; Libby Dart of the West Feliciana Historical Society; and Dr. Glenn Dupree, the president of the St. Francisville Chamber of Commerce. Lastly, Sockman reports on the success of the tourism industry in New Orleans following the 1988 Republican National Convention. He interviews: New Orleans City Councilwoman Peggy Wilson; Willie Jackson, shoe shine vendor; Dr. Mervin Trail, the chairman of the New Orleans Sports Foundation; and Ann Masson, the director of the Gallier House.
