Description
This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from February 24, 1989, features Ken Lormand and Roger Sockman reporting on the first week of the Special Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Lormand first reports on the week’s headlines. Next, Sockman reports on Governor Buddy Roemer’s opening address on his tax reform plan. His report includes: interviews with State Representatives Clyde Kimball, James David Cain, and Woody Jenkins; Dan Juneau, the president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), discussing LABI’s support for lowering the homestead exemption; and Mike Martin of the Coalition for a Healthier Louisiana expressing his support for an increase in the cigarette tax.
