This segment from the January 15, 1988, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Rob Hinton’s report on the preparations for the 1988 presidential election in Louisiana. He first reports on a meeting held by the Louisiana Democratic Party in New Orleans to encourage support for the Louisiana presidential primary on March 8th, Super Tuesday. It includes an interview with James Brady, the chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party, who discusses his reaction to controversial comments made by Len Sanderson, the director of Governor-Elect Buddy Roemer’s transition team at the meeting. Next, Hinton reports on the City of New Orleans’ preparations for hosting the Republican National Convention in August.
