This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from July 1, 1986, features Laura Myers and Karen Nachman hosting a daily legislative report on the 1986 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. They report on the conclusion of the session and present several interviews with legislators and lobbyists, including: State Representative Robert Adley; Earl Ryan of the Public Affairs Research Council (PAR); State Representative Jimmy Long; State Representative John Hainkel; State Representative Sherman Copelin; State Senator Cecil Picard; State Senator Mike Cross; State Senator Allen Bares; State Representative Allen Bradley; State Representative Bo Ackal; Wayne Harmon, independent oil producer; Ed Steimel of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI); Victor Bussie of the Louisiana AFL-CIO; State Senator Hank Lauricella; State Representative Willie Singleton; Pete Adams of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association; State Representative Charles D. Jones; State Representative Mary Landrieu; State Representative Ron Gomez; and State Representative Jim Donelon. Next, Myers conducts an in-studio interview with State Representative Buddy Leach, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and State Senator Lawson Swearingen, a member of the Senate Finance Committee. They discuss the state budget debate. Lastly, Myers presents an interview with Senate President Sammy Nunez on his decision to run in the 1986 United States Senate election.
