This segment from the October 12, 1984, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Robyn Ekings’ report on the ongoing dispute between the state and federal governments over oil and gas royalties from the 8g area of federal waters on the outer continental shelf. Ekings reports that the 8g area off the coast of Louisiana has produced $2.6 billion in oil and gas royalties, but the federal government only offered the state a $400 million settlement.
