Description
This segment from the September 2, 1983, episode of “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Robyn Ekings’ report on 28 teenagers from Northern Ireland visiting Lafayette for one month over the summer as a part of the Ulster Project. Ekings interviews Father Kerry Waterstone, the founder of the Ulster Project, who discusses the project’s goal of bringing together Roman Catholic and Protestant teenagers from war-torn areas in Northern Ireland so that they can learn how to live peacefully with people from different religions. Ekings also interviews three participants in the program, Moyra Haslett, Janet McVeagh, and Danny Harkin, about the trip providing them with an opportunity to form friendships with people from different religions.
