Description

This segment from the July 8, 1983, episode of “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features David Young’s report on the conclusion of the federal investigation into the management of the Deferred Compensation Corporation of Louisiana (DCCL), a $10 million investment fund for state employees. Young reports that the grand jury declined to indict former Governor Edwin Edwards for his role with DCCL, but they did release a report criticizing Edwards for his involvement with the company. At the beginning of the investigation, Edwards admitted to providing Kenneth Womack, the former head of DCCL, with a $1.1 million loan guarantee. This report includes Edwards’ reaction to the grand jury’s report.
